Interpreting for Deaf People with Atypical Cognition
"This workshop teaches participants how to work with Deaf people with intellectual disabilities and other types of atypical cognition. Theoretical underpinnings are discussed briefly, with a majority of time being spent on hands-on activities with authentic source materials. "In this IST participants will identify and discuss the features of effective public speaking and practice presenting to one another based on established parameters. All participants must be willing to prepare and present speeches before their peers! Feedback will be given and participants will apply feedback to improve subsequent presentations."

Creating a Working Thesaurus
August - December 2016. "In this course participants will work to expand their lexicon and enhance their interpreting skills working from ASL to English. By analyzing commonly used signs and exploring possible lexical options, interpreters will develop a mental thesaurus allowing for a plethora of vocabulary options to choose from when interpreting. Special focus will be placed on post-secondary settings. This online course is highly interactive and allows for both online and face-to-face dialogue with colleagues."

January - May 2017. "In this blended learning IST, participants will look at example portfolios, examine related technology and determine the platform and style best suited to their goals. The group will study and discuss elements commonly included within e-portfolios and determine how best to showcase those elements. We will also discuss how and e-portfolio might specifically be used as a means of showcasing skills and documenting advancement in the field."
