First up from 2axend, a piece on the prevalance of written English in the healthcare system and the impact on the Deaf community: https://2axend.com/the-literacy-trap-why-the-medical-system-is-failing-the-deaf-community/
Also from 2axend, a great New Year piece; relevant to me as I grapple today with the balance between AI being an accessibility tool but being underregulated and over-used. My favorite part is worth repeating: "AI can support accessibility, but it cannot be the final authority. Humans ensure accuracyl Deaf communities ensure cultural alignment. Without a human-in-the-loop standard, organizations risk the ultimate overcorrection: trading effective access for cheap speed. AI is an asset only when guided by trained interpreters, CART professionals, and continuous user validation." https://2axend.com/avoiding-the-overcorrection-how-to-lead-responsibly-through-2026s-great-correction/
Also from 2axend, the end of year wrap-up. Another poignant line about the need for access not being limited to those who identify as "big D-Deaf:" "We must recognize that the way we process information is a spectrum that transcends identity." Additionally, I do worry about the lack of understanding of AI that I have noticed both with hearing people and with my Deaf colleagues and friends, though Corey makes a great point that AI accessibility should be monitored by a Deaf consultant group. https://2axend.com/the-great-correction-2026-is-the-year-of-ethical-accessibility/
As I continue retroactively catching up on 2axend, I come to another blog post from 2025 about AI. Coming off of a conversation over football and great music with my cousin-in-law and future CART colleague, I am wary of the harm of AI on our profession, but Corey offers a different perspective here stating that if AI can be properly regulated, it could actually be helpful. https://2axend.com/ai-algorithms-the-double-edged-sword-for-2026-workplace-equity/

This one was very timely as I was discussing at a Univeristy Open Day that a very likely path for me will be into the healthcare system. https://2axend.com/beyond-the-check-the-6-9x-mandate-for-healthcare-equity/
